Frame Restoration II
After extensive repairs and conservation of this large mirror frame's original surface came the gilding of those repaired pieces, I toned and aged them slightly to enhance the frame's various elements, some of which had to be recreated by hand as unfortunately an intact matching piece was not available.
Another techinque I used to enhance the apperance of the central oval at the head of the frame was a simple but effective "Verde Issorie" marbling technique combined with a little french polish to aid the once badly damaged cartouche in remaining an integral part of this frame.
